KIIT University in Odisha asks all Nepali students to leave campus

KIIT University in Odisha, India, has ordered Nepali students to leave the campus in the wake of the tragic death of a Nepali student in the university’s hostel on Sunday night. The death has spurred protests from other students, who have accused the university of failing to take sufficient action following the incident. The Registrar’s Office also released an official notice in an attempt to calm the situation, directing all Nepali students to vacate the campus. 

The death has put the student body on edge and aggravated tensions between the university’s administration and students. It points to the increasing anger over how the incident had been handled, as well as the continuing calls by students for accountability from the university.
