Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will speak in the House of Representatives today (March 31). He wants to end the deadlock caused by the government’s decision to remove Kulman Ghising as managing director of the Nepal Electricity Authority.
Last Friday, PM Oli met with Speaker Devraj Ghimire, opposition leaders, and ruling party chief whips. They agreed that the prime minister would explain why Ghising was removed. The Cabinet decided last Monday to remove Ghising from his position. This decision led to strong opposition and disrupted Parliament.
Opposition parties want a clear answer from the Prime Minister. They said they will continue blocking Parliament until they get a proper explanation. At first, the government wanted a minister or deputy prime minister to respond. But opposition leaders did not agree. They demanded that PM Oli speak directly.
