Sparking the deadliest military conflict between India and Pakistan in more than two decades. In response to a fatal attack on Hindu tourists in Indian Kashmir, India launched airstrikes on nine suspected terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistani Kashmir on Wednesday.
In response, Pakistan confirmed it shot down five Indian fighter planes and claimed eight people were killed in attacks. Both sides’ engagement in intense firefighting over the Kashmir border led to further civilian deaths. Tensions are still so high that they will escalate further despite calls for moderation from world leaders. Flights were canceled, schools were closed, and now the world is yearning to see how both countries will react.
