Encrypted messaging app Signal has rolled out a new “Screen Security” feature on its Windows app to block screenshots and screen recordings, citing privacy concerns over Windows 11’s new Recall tool. The feature uses Digital Rights Management (DRM) to shield messages, similar to how Netflix blocks screenshotting. It’s enabled by default but can be turned off for accessibility needs. Signal criticized AI tools like Recall, urging developers to consider user privacy seriously. Still in limited rollout, Microsoft’s Recall has sparked backlash for potential privacy risks.
