Doctors in Kathmandu and the rest of Nepal have suspended all non-emergency medical services as a protest against the recent activities of the Consumer Court on medical malpractice cases. On Tuesday, the Nepal Medical Association (NMA) led a procession of healthcare workers in white coats through the streets, starting at Maitighar Mandala and continuing to Bijulibazar. The NMA feels that medical matters should only be dealt with by the Nepal Medical Council, not the Consumer Court. Outpatient services are still not operational, and there is no one who can indicate when they will start operating again due to the strike, which has caused patients significant problems, especially those who had traveled a long distance for treatment.
