According to Communication Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung, X (previously Twitter) has declined to register in Nepal, terming the nation as being corrupt and undemocratic. The step irked Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who wished that the unregistered platforms continue to be blocked, yet Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba compelled him to repeal the ban. Consequently, access to Facebook, YouTube, X, and other websites has been reinstated, though the future direction of Nepal in its dealings with social media is unclear as international corporations decline to register in the country.
