The Gen Z movement overthrew the KP Sharma Oli government, which was then succeeded by the former chief justice Sushila Karki as interim prime minister, who would conduct elections on March 5 next year. Nonetheless, there would be a significant number of youths who would not be able to vote due to the current laws, because the registrations after the election date had closed. The Election Commission is lobbying for a legal change to reopen registration with the pledge that it is ready to hold the polls despite the lack of leadership.
