According to the report of the UN, every 10 minutes, a woman was killed by a close one in 2024. Around 50,000 women and girls were killed by partners or family members. The UN said there has been no real progress in reducing femicide and that homes remain the most dangerous place for women. Experts said violence starts with controlling behaviour and called for stronger laws to protect women and to punish offenders before violence becomes deadly.
