The Department of Urban Development and Building Construction has initiated the cancellation of contracts in 42 projects that have been stalled since most contractors do not complete their jobs promptly. Most of the projects have already been announced in public, and more cancellations are underway, including major buildings such as the Radio Nepal building and portions of the Minister Quarters. According to the officials, most contractors accept projects but stall work or provide poor plans. Under the instructions of Minister Kulman Ghising, the department is to drive a very strong message that projects should be delivered on time and to reinstate the confidence of the people.
