The winter session of Nepal’s federal parliament commenced at the International Convention Centre in New Baneshwor last Friday at 1:00 PM. The meeting (or “bill session”) will begin with the reading of letters from the President by the Speaker and the nomination of a member to preside over the meeting. Lawmakers will also make party statements.
Besides, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will present laws in matters of governance and public service delivery in the House. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel will bring some laws related to economic fiscal procedures, privatization, and economic/environmental improvement, among others.
Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation Ram Bahadur Thapa is tabling laws on cooperatives and land management. The National Assembly will also discuss the Media Council Bill and the Renewable Energy Bill, as well as table condolence motions.
