Near Washington, DC, an American Airlines regional plane and a US Army Black Hawk helicopter tragically collided in midair, killing every passenger. The crash, which came after the plane was flying to Washington from Wichita, Kansas, left at least 14 people still missing, and dozens of bodies had been pulled out of the Potomac River.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating, and flight data recorders have been retrieved. Among the dead were several figure skaters and coaches who were returning from camp in Wichita.
