Unexpected tax rises on EVs are prompting early purchases before the budget goes into effect. A total of 4,562 EVs valued at Rs 11.04 billion were imported through Rasuwa last April. Another 666 EVs worth Rs 3.11 billion came into Nepal from Tatopani during the same period. On one day, 1,450 vehicles passed through Nepal, and 1,010 were large electric vehicles. More than 1,000 of the imported electric vehicles are now waiting to be sold at the Chobhar dry port.
