Though COVID-19 cases are rising in India, Singapore, and Thailand, Nepal has had just one case in 2025 and no recent gene sequences because the samples are lacking. Extra surveillance is taking place at the airport and along the border, according to health officials. Officials say that as immunity wears off, there could be another increase in cases. New cases in other parts of Europe are mainly coming from the JN.1 and XEC lineages. The government has asked WHO for test kits and is working to get hospitals ready for possible cases.
