Smartphone imports are increasing, with devices worth around 3.5 billion imported in just one month

1.78 million smartphones valued at more than Rs 28.76 billion were imported into Nepal this year up to mid-Baisakh, according to the Customs Department. In just a month, more than Rs 4.48 billion worth of phones, or 269,000 units, were imported into the country. More than 1.24 million Chinese phones, totaling Rs 17.26 billion, have been exported, making China the number one exporter, with India second at 330,808 units. The government earned more than Rs 5.36 billion from imports shipped from 61 different countries.
