Local private vehicle operators in the province have protested against the plan to set up ride-sharing in Gandaki, pushing for the immediate abolition of the new regulations passed on May 16. If their demands are not met, the Public Transport Protection Struggle Committee said at a press conference, they will be suspending bus service across the province starting from Friday. After the Supreme Court connected ride-sharing to issues of consumers and labor, the Gandaki government introduced the Ride Sharing Regulations. Nevertheless, transport operators say it is illegal for red-plate vehicles to carry passengers according to the Vehicle and Transport Management Act 2049 BS.
