On May 29, the deputy prime minister of New Zealand, Winston Peters, traveled to Khunde and Khumjung in Nepal to celebrate strong ties between the countries. The Himalayan Trust arranged the visit, which celebrated 72 years since the first Everest ascent and included visits to Khunde Hospital and Khumjung School, set up by Sir Edmund Hillary. QEPS will now run for an additional five years, thanks to an announcement from Peters, helping 108 schools. Both countries celebrated their years of joint work in health, education, and community development.
