Teachers Warn of Fresh Protest Over School Bill

Considering the deadline of June 29, it remains unclear when the School Education Bill will be finalized by the House Education Committee to take it to the Parliament. Despite the fact that the Nepal Teachers Federation had been promised by political parties to present the bill by this date, thereby terminating the protests initiated by the teachers, the committee has yet to convene a meeting.

The majority of the problems in the bill have been dealt with, but the conservative nature of Education Minister Raghuji Pant in attempting to reverse the abolishment of district-level education offices and other provisions has led to the delay. Teachers are becoming suspicious because the bill is not included in the House calendar, and they can stage another protest in case it is not enacted in time.
