On Sunday, the Nepal Student Union (NSU) protested in Kathmandu, asking for the early implementation of the School Education Act, the recruitment of teachers through open competition, and the inclusion of students in the senates of the universities. Things became heated when NSU activists attempted to march into an area that was sealed off in New Baneshwor, and they found themselves on the receiving end of police action, and ten of them were hauled off to the police. They also burned tires, and this caused a temporary disruption of vehicles.
