Following pressure from the EU consumer, Microsoft, under the Digital Markets Act, is offering Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) at no cost to all home users in the European Economic Area. The updates are currently provided free of charge, no strings attached, though it was at first a paid service of $30, including OneDrive account syncing, which is becoming obsolete on October 14 with Windows 10. Euroconsumers is also calling on Microsoft by encouraging it to offer ESU after October 2026.
