In Devghat Rural Municipality 3, orange farmers are finding it very difficult to deliver their produce to the market due to a lack of bridges and very poor roads. Although the region yields orange at the cost of crores of rupees, farmers are forced to walk their pickings over long distances or on porters and ropeways, and this renders transportation expensive. This year, there was a fall in production as a result of the disease, but the farmers received higher returns because prices increased. Nevertheless, in the absence of effective road access, they have to use middlemen to access markets in Tanahun, Pokhara, Chitwan, and Kathmandu.
