PM Shah’s Bold Agenda Faces Bureaucratic Reality

The new government, led by Balen Shah, has announced a fast 100-day, 100-point plan to address the slow services, reduce political interference, curb corruption, and speed up the development process. The new government aims to introduce key legislation in the country, including the Federal Civil Service Act, digital governance, data protection, procurement, project facilitation, etc., to give the reforms a legal push. The focus on digital governance, the need to reduce red tape, and the fight against corruption can bring about immediate results, but the success of the new government will depend on the ability of Nepal’s bureaucracy to deliver results. The people are pinning high hopes on the new government, but if the results are not immediate, people may get frustrated.
