Anthropic to Sign Deal with Australia on AI Safety and Economic Data Tracking

Anthropic will provide data on its index of the economic impact of artificial intelligence to the government of Australia, enabling it to monitor how it is being utilized in various sectors of the economy and its impact on employment. The agreement will also see the two parties collaborate in carrying out research on the capabilities and dangers of artificial intelligence, universities in Australia, data centers, and energy investments. Australia, which lacks an AI-specific law, currently relies on existing laws and guidelines while promoting its adoption through its National AI Plan.
