An eight-member committee has been formed to probe the balloon blast incident that took place during the inaugural program of ‘Pokhara Visit Year 2025’ in Pokhara. The committee comprises Kaski’s Chief District Officer Bharatmani Pandey as chairperson, Pokhara Metropolitan City’s Chief Administrative Officer Shivraj Chaulagain, Kaski’s Superintendent of Police Shyambabu Oliya, Armed Police Force No. 24 Battalion’s Chief Surya Prasad Timilsina, National Investigation Department’s Deputy Director Suresh Kumar Tiwari, and Kaski’s Assistant Chief District Officer Ganga Bahadur Chhetri as the Member Secretary. An explosives expert will also join the investigation. The committee has been directed to submit its report within 15 days.
Deputy Prime Minister Bishnu Paudel and Mayor Dhanraj Acharya were wounded in the blast and are now receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of the Burn Hospital in Kirtipur. Following the formation of the committee, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak also visited the hospital and questioned their health condition.
