The Federation of Contractors’ Associations of Nepal has urged the government to declare a ‘construction holiday’ as the prices of construction materials have gone up due to the rise in fuel prices. Due to the Middle East crisis, the prices of oil have gone up. The prices of construction materials like cement, iron rods, etc., as well as the transportation costs, have gone up as a result of the rise in fuel prices. The contractors may even stop construction work till the prices come down, the contractors said.
