FCC Revises Verizon Phone Unlocking Rules After Significant Fraud Issues

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission has removed a rule requiring Verizon to unlock cellular phones after 60 days of activation because the measure was allegedly used by criminals to steal and resell the unlocked Verizon cellular phones. According to the FCC, the unlocking of Verizon cellular phones led to the theft of these gadgets, resulting in Verizon losing approximately 785,000 cellular phones to fraud last year and an increase in serious crimes regarding the use of these stolen cellular phones. The new ruling aims to mitigate this.
