The Gandaki Province Government received a total of Rs 1.135 billion in revenue in the last seven years from selling its forest products, such as 65,000 cubic feet of wood, 12,143 pieces of firewood, and 802,629 kg of medicinal herbs and roots. This trade has also provided more than 2.5 million labor days of employment. The revenue from the sale of wood, firewood, herbs, and contract sales comes through the Ministry of Forest and Environment.
Every year these community forest user groups generate millions in revenue. The farmers need to encourage the government to grow fruits and herbs in empty forest areas to enhance economic development. In addition, there has been a move to protect forest resources and also control encroachment, rescue wild animals, and compensate farmers due to wildlife damage to their crops.
