Four years after waiting, the much-hyped Gwarko overpass in Lalitpur is all set to become public today, following Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s inauguration. This is the first overpass to be built in Nepal at a cost of Rs 170.6 million and a 320-meter and 180-meter approach that leads to Koteshwor and Satdobato, respectively, and a central four-lane 35-meter bridge. The Ashish Samanantar Railigate Company, which took the contract, was fined daily because it failed to meet the deadline of 23 December, which forced the contractor to work faster. Another overpass is being planned by the government in Satdobato or Ekantakuna next fiscal year.
