Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) thanked protesting teachers for peacefully staging their demonstration without damaging property or littering. He later wrote on Facebook that he intended to raise awareness, not issue fines, and that it was important to teach people to respect public property. Mayor Shah referred to the role of teachers in making a conscious society and requested them to make sure that protest demonstrations are undertaken in a way that they do not disturb the education of students. He also hoped people would no longer have to come to the capital to demand their rights.
