Mercedes Benz has consented to pay 149.6 million dollars to resolve a lawsuit brought against the company by the U.S. that claimed the company was cheating in its emission tests on the diesel engine. The agreement encompasses 48 states, Puerto Ricans, and Washington, D.C., and entitles trustworthy car proprietors to 2,000 payment dollars, free fixing of emissions and longer warranties. The officials claimed that Mercedes used suspicious software to hide the true amount of pollution, but the company claimed that it had nothing wrong and said that the payment would not affect its earnings.
