NEA’s Delayed Underground Grid Project Puts Public Safety at Risk

NEA

Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is not being spared for not finishing road excavation in Kathmandu valley, as they dig up so many roads in the name of power transfer. The project started in the year 2076 upon a loan of 150 million dollars by ADB to replace the use of overhead wires with underground electricity wires and smart utility ducts. Some of them are being covered, but there are a lot of things left uncovered, like in New Baneshwor to Shantinagar, which pose daily inconveniences to people walking on the streets and risks to other users. Locals accuse the mismanagement and delays, whereas others say that the Managing Director of NEA sought to stop the project by citing the frequent power problems.
