Nepal’s position in the 2024 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) has dropped to 107th place with a score of 34, as compared to 106th place scoring 35 in 2023. The CPI ranks public sector corruption in 180 countries from 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean). The least corrupt country remains Denmark, with a score of 90, followed by Finland (88) and Singapore (84).
Out of South Asian countries, Bhutan is the least corrupt, with the 18th lowest score of 72 in these countries on the CPI scale. India and the Maldives are together at 96th, with a score of 38, both one spot down from last time. Sri Lanka ranks 121st with a score of 32; Pakistan is ranked 135th with a score of 27, and Bangladesh ranks 151st with a score of 23.
