Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Congress President Deuba, and CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal are meeting today at Singha Durbar. The meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. and will include only these three leaders from the ruling parties. Agni Kharel, Prime Minister Oli’s advisor on human rights and transitional justice, confirmed the meeting. He said only the top three leaders would participate in the discussion.
The postponed appointment of officials to the Commission on Investigation of Enforced Disappearances and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission will be the primary focus. The transitional justice process is being further delayed by the lack of a recommendation committee. The previous committee, led by former Chief Justice Om Prakash Mishra, stepped down after disagreeing on the appointments.
