The Department of Foreign Employment has initiated the amendment procedure of the Foreign Employment Act of 2007 and has forwarded its proposal to the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security. The proposed amendments will seek to cut down fraudulent activities, offer quick services, compensate and counsel victims quickly, and facilitate workers. The department noted that labor permits will be issued within one day, provided all required papers are in order and threatened prosecution of all unlicensed persons operating in the country. So far this fiscal year, it has recovered over Rs 33.8 million in compensation through 308 resolved complaints and received 3,672 cases, while also publishing details of accused individuals and companies on a new website to prevent fraud.
