The marriage between a same-sex couple became legally recognized in Arghakhanchi, which is the first important event under the recent recognition of same-sex marriages in Nepal. On June 1, 2025, having been in a relationship for more than a year, Phulmaya of Arghakhanchi and Nirmaya of Kapilvastu had a wedding ceremony. In spite of a bit of confusion at first, they got married and registered in a local ward office with proper consultations.
