Former U.S. President Donald Trump said he would talk to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday about ending the war in Ukraine. He mentioned that discussions are already happening about dividing certain assets between Ukraine and Russia. U.S. officials are hopeful a ceasefire deal could be reached soon after recent talks in Saudi Arabia. However, Putin has not agreed yet and has set conditions. Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, believes the two leaders will have a positive discussion.
In the meantime, the president of Ukraine charged that Russia had been delaying in order to obtain a military edge. Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney also discussed the conflict with Zelensky and plans to meet with leaders in France and the UK soon.
