Tribhuvan University (TU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Keshar Jung Baral had to quit his post one year after assuming office due to his health problems as well as the challenges from political interference and obstacles in taking initiatives to implement his dream vision. After being appointed under the communist party of Nepal, Baral faced pressure from influential politicians to make numerous political interferences permanent, including making a contract teacher permanent in violation of multiple Supreme Court judgments. His resignation also reflected his declining health, as he had spent most of his time working from home. No formal acceptance of the resignation has taken place, and the university has yet to overcome major hurdles.
