British prince edward visit to Nepal

President Ramchandra Paudel welcomed British Prince Edward and Sophie, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, to Nepal on Tuesday. They talked about topics like climate change, bilateral ties, and Nepal-UK relations. The president shared Nepal’s initiative to create awareness of climate change, especially in mountain conservation. 

Discussions also took place on the long-standing UK-Nepal partnership, with a particular focus on the Gurkha connection and Nepal’s contribution to the recruitment of the British Army. The British royal couple’s visit is also part of efforts to mark the common history of the two nations and their continuing collaboration. The Duke and Duchess also visited initiatives like the Duke of Edinburgh International Award and United Kingdom-backed maternal health and economic development programs in Nepal. The meeting was also attended by Major General Gerald Strickland, head of British Gurkha Brigade, who presented the Annual Report 2024 of the brigade.
