CIAA files corruption case against PADT member secretary Thapa, 13 others

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has registered a corruption case against 14 people, including the member secretary of PADT, Dr. Milan Kumar Thapa, who were involved in the misuse of Rs. 103.3 million used in the procurement of electric cremation machines. The former PADT officials, engineers, and company operators are accused of rigging the fixing process, the issue of granting the contracts to the company that is not qualified, cost overcharging, the use of phony specialists, and granting payments without any conditions. The deployed machines were of low standard, and they are non-operational. CIAA wants to recover all the money that was lost as a result of this vice.
