Commission Upholds Energy Minister’s Decision on Dedicated and Trunk Line Tariff

Commission Upholds Energy Minister’s Decision

The Electricity Regulatory Commission has supported the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) in its dispute with Panchakanya Plastic and Panchakanya Steel over special “dedicated” and “trunk line” electricity tariffs. The commission agreed that NEA’s tariff rates and its decision to cut power for unpaid dues were legal. The industries had long opposed paying these charges, yet the commission denied their relief and demanded they pay the balance. The companies may petition the case in court in case they are dissatisfied with the ruling.
