Are Buildings Torched During Gen Z Movement Quake Safe?

Gen Z Movement

Due to the Gen Z movement, a lot of buildings have been vandalised and burnt, and experts have warned that such burnt structures might not be safe to use, particularly in earthquake prone Nepal. Fire makes the concrete weak and also destroys the steel strengthening and creates cracks within the building, even though they look all right on the surface, according to engineers and seismologists. They emphasize the fact that meticulous technical check ups should occur in such buildings prior to allowing citizens to re settle there because they are weak and get collapsed during any subsequent future earthquake, besides health and electrical hazards. In the meantime, the government is also looking forward to reestablishing the ruined government buildings in the next two years, and the losses are estimated to be in excess of Rs 84 billion all over the country.
