The Nepal Teachers’ Federation, which held protests on the streets of Kathmandu for the last five days, said it will begin an indefinite academic strike from Monday, Chaitra 25. The strike intended to pressure the government towards reform in the education system by demanding a quality school education system and a student-teacher-friendly education act. Teachers and education staff across the country are being urged to stop all activity, including the publication of results and the running of schools, in support of the protest. During the strike, the Federation has requested that parents, students, and other stakeholders refrain from engaging in tasks like checking answer sheets and conducting educational workshops on camps.
