In Birgunj, the Armed Police Force Nepal (APF) has intercepted clothes worth Rs. 1.85 million that were smuggled into the country by evading customs. Following a tip-off, a combined force from the APF and Birgunj Customs Office carried out a raid at houses in Chhapkaiya and Nadiya Tole of Birgunj-1, where the smuggled Indian clothes were kept and were to be redispatched. DSP Devendra Bahadur Singh confirmed the storage of the goods at the local houses to avoid customs checking. The items in possession have since been released to the office of the customs to carry out further investigations.
