A helicopter has been imported to Nepal through the Tatopani customs checkpoint on the Nepal-China border, which is the first time ever. Mountain Helicopters Pvt Ltd imported the helicopter, which is manufactured by Airbus in France, by shipping it in deconstructed form in a 40-foot container through China. The company selected the Tatopani route as it is faster to deliver compared to the Kolkata port, which takes close to a month to deliver. The helicopter has to be reassembled and sent to Kathmandu after it is cleared by the customs with a 1 percent duty and 13 percent VAT. This is an addition, making the fleet of Mountain Helicopters reach three.
