Balen Shah Backs Gen Z protest, Urges Leaders Not to Exploit Youth-Led Movement

Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah has come out in full support of today’s Gen Z rally against the government’s social media ban, pointing to the fact that no political party or leader should take the opportunity to gain personal benefits. Although he is not allowed to participate due to the under-28 age restriction, Shah expressed that it is really important to listen to young people and encouraged Gen Z to share how they want the country to be. The planned protest led by the youth, which is to take place in Kathmandu and other cities, also shows the increasing frustration with corruption.
