Taiwan says cyberattacks from China on its key systems, such as hospitals, banks, energy services and government networks, increased by 6% in 2025, reaching about 2.63 million attacks per day. According to Taiwan’s National Security Bureau, many attacks were timed with Chinese military drills and political events as part of what it calls “hybrid threats” meant to disrupt or paralyse daily life and government functions. The attacks included efforts to shut down services, steal information and target science parks and semiconductor companies like TSMC, which Taiwan believes is linked to China’s push to strengthen its own technology sector.
