The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has directed Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah to explain his visit to France in May 2024, especially why members of his secretariat, Sunil Lamsal and Kumar Byanjankar, were included in the official delegation. During the trip, Mayor Shah attended activities at the Cannes Film Festival, where he was able to meet with the director of the festival, attend the red carpet, and view audiovisual projects, besides being recognized at a reception. The query comes after a complaint on the decision to give official status to his team members.
