Dr. Biswo Poudel is now the 18th governor of Nepal Rastra Bank following weeks of political discussions. Cabinet members authorized the appointment after it was recommended by the Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel’s committee. Poudel, who earned a PhD at UC Berkeley, is experienced in economics and public policy. He replaced the previous governor, Maha Prasad Adhikari, whose period of office concluded in April. Neelam Dhungana Timilsina had been appointed to act as governor. Before becoming the governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Poudel had been the vice chair of the National Planning Commission and an advisor to important financial organizations.
