The Election Commission of Nepal has sought an explanation from the Kathmandu Metropolitan City for initiating a new door to door healthcare facility for citizens above 70 years of age after the Election Code of Conduct came into effect. The EC stated that new initiatives cannot be initiated during the election period unless they are included in the approved budget for the year or are emergency initiatives. The EC sought an explanation from the KMC as to whether the initiative was included in the approved budget of the local body or not and asked them to submit the documents within two days if the initiative was included in the budget.
