The Lalitpur Metropolitan Corporation constructed barricades and demolished illegal structures in Lalitpur-5 by using a bulldozer early on Monday morning as part of a campaign to protect and restore a historical pond known as Nhu Pokhari.
The demolition included temporary and illegal makeshift constructions dotted around the area. According to Lalitpur City Police Chief Sitaram Hachhethu, the pond holds historical importance, but very few people know about it.
Removing these unauthorized buildings, he emphasized, is an essential part of the push to return the pond to its original state.
