Meta becomes the latest big tech company turning to nuclear power for AI needs

Meta

Meta has entered into a 20-year contract with Constellation Energy to ensure it has enough nuclear energy for its AI and computing requirements. Moving forward from 2027, the nuclear plant in Illinois will generate an extra 30 megawatts under the agreement, which will keep jobs and raise tax money for the area.

More and more tech companies are using nuclear energy to respond to higher electricity requirements while cutting down on carbon emissions. Microsoft, Amazon, and Google are also spending money on nuclear energy. Nevertheless, experts claim that the U.S. may not be able to expand its nuclear energy because of slow improvement, expense, and old power lines.
